Tymon Kosma at Strzelnica na Woli - a vibraphone that captivated the audience

On 25 October, we gathered at Strzelnica na Woli to experience the music of Tymon Kosma. Part of the Nowe Brzmienia (New Sounds) concert series, the evening revealed the vibraphone’s remarkable range of possibilities. The instrument itself, and the artist’s way of bringing out its many voices, proved a hit with the audience. It was a magical evening, shaped by music, a sense of closeness and the shared experience of attentive listening.

We came to the Kraków Book Fair with publications and stories spanning 30 years of Villa Decius’s activities. Sharing a stand with Biblioteka Kraków and KBF under the banner of Kraków UNESCO City of Literature, we had the opportunity to introduce you to part of that legacy. Above all, it was a chance to meet you and get to know one another a little better.
Laureates of the 23rd Polish Sérgio Vieira de Mello Award Honoured at Villa Decius

Villa Decius hosted an important event recognising individuals and organisations that consistently stand up for human rights. The laureates of the 23rd Polish Sérgio Vieira de Mello Award, organised by the Villa Decius Association for the past 23 years, have been announced. This year’s honours went to Maksim Znak, Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo and Helge Lunde.
The History of Villa Decius and Kraków’s Literary Life in an International Setting

Meetings like this are an opportunity to showcase our work supporting culture and literature in Kraków. During a visit by guests from Edinburgh, Bremen, Prague, Kyiv and Ljubljana, we presented the history of Villa Decius and the initiatives through which, for 30 years, we have combined caring for our heritage with developing international cultural cooperation.
Conference entitled “Animals in the History and Culture of Past Centuries (16th–19th Centuries)”

On 15–16 October 2026, we had the pleasure of co-organising the First International Academic Conference, “Animals in the History and Culture of Past Centuries (16th–19th Centuries)”. The event was organised by the Institute of History and Archival Studies at the University of the National Education Commission, Krakow, the Institute of History at the University of Wrocław, and the Villa Decius Institute for Culture, in partnership with Zoophilologica. Polish Journal of Animal Studies, the Museum of Kraków, and the Seweryn Udziela Ethnographic Museum in Kraków.
“Touching the Sky” Exhibition Opening at Strzelnica na Woli

On 10 October 2026, we gathered at Strzelnica na Woli for the opening of “Touching the Sky,” an exhibition by Julen W. The meeting with the Catalan painter marked the beginning of a presentation of his work, in which motifs from Catalan culture appear alongside paintings created during his residency in Kraków.
