The History of Villa Decius and Kraków’s Literary Life in an International Setting 22.10.2026
Meetings like this are an opportunity to showcase our work supporting culture and literature in Kraków. During a visit by guests from Edinburgh, Bremen, Prague, Kyiv and Ljubljana, we presented the history of Villa Decius and the initiatives through which, for 30 years, we have combined caring for our heritage with developing international cultural cooperation.
The delegation was welcomed by Paweł Łyżwiński and Aleksandra Szymańska-Niekłań. They shared the story of our Renaissance gem and its contemporary role as a place for creative work, encounters between writers and translators, and literary exchange across borders. The visit offered an opportunity to present our literary programmes and demonstrate how supporting creative professionals strengthens Kraków’s presence in European cultural life.
Welcoming the international literary community is also a way of promoting Kraków — its heritage, creative potential and cultural offering. We introduce our programmes, share our experience and build relationships that help international cooperation grow. This is part of our everyday work: making Villa Decius a place where culture is created and keeping Kraków actively involved in literary conversations across borders.
Thank you for visiting and for your interest in our work!
