Artistic Scholarship at Villa Decius 18.04.2022
Artists from Austria at Villa Decius.
Yesterday, Villa Decius welcomed Gabrielle Edlbauer (Upper Austria) and Julia Goodman (New York). The artists will stay with us thanks to the joint initiative of Villa Decius and the Austrian Consulate General / Österreichisches Generalkonsulat Krakau to work on their artistic project devoted to the traditions of Galician cuisine.
Gabrielle Edlbauer graduated from the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm in 2011 and in 2012 received her MA from the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, where she currently teaches. She has taken part in numerous exhibitions in Poland and abroad. She is a laureate of several awards and scholarships.
Julia Goodman lives in Long Island and is an American of Jewish descent with Galician roots. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna in 2020 and the University of New York in 2009. She lives in Austria.
For the next few weeks, the artists will be working on a cookbook with chicken recipes at Villa Decius ("Jappy Julia's Crappy Cookbook") and they will undoubtedly find a lot of inspiration for their project in Krakow, while discovering forgotten roots.
Both artists are residents of the Artistic Scholarship of the Villa Decius Institute for Culture in 2022 organized in cooperation with the Austrian Consulate General in Krakow as part of the "On the road again" project.
