Discussion "In her voice"
We invite you to a panel discussion on socially engaged women's voices in literature.
On Saturday, June 11, at 4 p.m., we invite you to a panel discussion on socially engaged women's voices in literature at the De Revolutionibus Books&Cafe (Bracka street, Krakow).
The meeting will be an opportunity to discuss the role and intertwining of art and activism for gender equality and women's rights. The discussion will attempt to outline the field in which contemporary art and literature attempt to capture the discourse around the social roles imposed on women. We hope to juxtapose the personal stories of panelists coming from different countries and talk about feminism, engagement and empowerment. Each of this women seen terror in her country, each of them was brave enough to save her truth and to discuss with us, when and how to make the woman heared in society that are not ready to listen.

Aaiún Nin - an Angolan poet, media artist and activist. Through her work, she explores and confronts issues of race, gender and sexual discrimination, as well as LGBT+ experience. Returning to Angola is associated with a high risk for her. Their first poetry collection, "Broken Halves of a Milky Sun" was published in 2022 in the USA.
Sara Nazari - a teacher of arts and English, ex-student of English Literature studies from Kabul and a student of European Studies on UJ, she was saved from the Taliban by people from the Mountaineering program, the international Women Empoverment movment. A member of Ascend, a non-governmental organization working on behalf of female mountaineers. After the Taliban seized power in Kabul, she publicly spoke about feminism, sport and women's rights in Afghanistan.
Hanna Komar - a Minsk-based award-winning poet and translator, activist and volunteer for freedom of expression and human rights. She has published three books of poetry: "Fear of Heights" in Belarusian, "Recycled" in Polish and Belarusian and "We'll come back" in Belarusian together with Dmitry Strotsev. She has translated Charles Bukowski's poetry into Belarusian. She is a winner of the Maksim Bahdanovič Prize for Poetic Debut and the Natalia Arsiennieva International Prize for Literature, together with Dmitry Strotsevny she was awarded the Norwegian Authors Union Freedom of Speech Award in 2020. She is a member of the Belarusian PEN Club. Her poems have been published intranslation into Polish, Ukrainian, Russian, Swedish, Norwegian, German, Czech, and English.
The panel discussion is a part of the event "Culture in exile. Solidarity Days at Villa Decius".
