The study visit of Ukrainian playwrights to Villa Decius has come to an end.
An intensive week of meetings and discussions about theatre is behind us. Within the framework of the international project Triangle for Ukrainian Artists, during a study visit to Villa Decius six Ukrainian playwrights and project partners from Sweden met with people creating the cultural and theatrical ecosystem in Poland.
Among the invited speakers, who shared their experiences of theatre work, dramaturgy, directing, financing and organisation of cultural events with our guests, were experts from, among others, magazine 'Didaskalia' 'Dialog. Monthly magazine of contemporary dramaturgy', Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute, Stanislaw Wyspianski Academy for Theatre Arts in Krakow, Tadeusz Różewicz Drama Award, National Cultural Centre Jewish Art Institute/ Yidisher Kunst-Institut.
Study visit participants: Olga Maciupa, Lena Lagushonkova, Olena Kudaieva, Kateryna Penkova, Nina Zahozhenko, Oksana Savchenko and Polish-Italian actress Magdalena Andrzejewska, also visited the following theatres in Kraków: the Helena Modrzejewska National Old Theatre (where they learnt about the history and functioning of the theatre, discussed the creation of theatrical repertoire and familiarised themselves with the specifics of a director's work), the Łaźnia Nowa Theatre (where they learnt about the creation and organisation of an international festival based on the example of the Divine Comedy International Theatre Festival), and also visited the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre in Krakow, the Utopia House - International Centre for Empathy, and learnt about the activities of the Ludowy Theatre and the Theatre Institute for Young People.
The playwrights also met at NIĆ. Café-Bookshop with representatives of the Ukrainian cultural community in Krakow.
