Forum for Dialogue of Cultures. Scholarships for scriptwriters and playwrights

The project Forum for Dialogue of Cultures. Scholarships for Screenwriters and Playwrights, run by the Villa Decius Association since 2018 and by the Villa Decius Institute for Culture since 2023, is a residency programme aimed at authors of theatre and radio plays as well as film and television scripts from Poland and Germany.

It provides for the organisation of two or three one-month scholarship residencies each year for artists from Poland and Germany. During the residencies, the artists work on their individual script projects and have the opportunity to discover opportunities for support in the realisation of their scripts during networking meetings with representatives of the creative industries in Krakow. The project also envisages the translation of fragments of foreign-language dramatic texts into Polish, with the aim of facilitating cooperation between artists from Germany and Polish institutions.

Fragments of texts produced during the scholarship stays are presented in the form of a performative reading, which concludes the programme.

In the course of the project, we are cooperating with, among others, the Literarisches Colloquium Berlin, the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre in Krakow, the National Old Theatre in Krakow and the Krakow Film Commission.

The project is funded by the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation.

Last years' scholarship recipients were: Anna Wakulik, Magda Kupryjanowicz, Lisa Sommerfeld, Dana von Suffrin, Małgorzata Sikorska-Miszczuk, Kai Grehn, Isabella Oliveira Parise Kröger, Mateusz Pacewicz.
