These are not only concerts by outstanding artists, but also an opportunity to discover the extraordinary stories of creators who, in their music, bring together different cultures, narratives, and experiences – and whose lives are also connected to Poland.

Each event is a passionate journey through music and intercultural stories. The program includes a short, dynamic talk introducing the artists – their inspirations, passions, and creative searches – followed by a concert that allows the audience to fully experience a unique blend of cultures, emotions, and sounds.

These meetings are about dialogue, collaboration, diversity, and the power of passion, showing how music can connect people and worlds.

At the upcoming meeting, we invite you to an encounter with two extraordinary artists: Rasm Al Mashan and Bernard Maseli.

Rasm Al Mashan – a Polish-Yemeni vocalist, songwriter, and composer with an original, dark, and intriguing voice. In her music she combines influences of ethnic, Arabic, and African traditions with contemporary World Music arrangements and open improvisation. She co-founded the bands Kultura de Natura and Soomood. In 2019, she released her solo album YEMENIA, which stayed in the World Music Charts Europe TOP20 for three months. Her music tells stories from the Middle East and Africa, touching on themes of peace, longing, and cultural bridges between East and West. Her work uniquely combines tradition and modernity.

The artist about her album:
“YEMENIA is a very colorful album in the World Music style. Arabia and Africa meet here, dressed in European sounds. It is world music inspired by the sounds of Yemen I remember from childhood. African immigrants living in Yemen had a great influence on my music. While studying at school in Aden, I spent a lot of time with classmates from Sudan, Kenya, and Ethiopia, absorbing their songs and rhythms. The album contains stories from the 1980s and 1990s. The lyrics speak of poverty, war, peace, and longing for home. The message of the album is to build bridges between the Middle East and the Western world, and it is an appeal for peace in Yemen.”

Bernard Maseli – vibraphonist, composer, and producer whose career began in 1985 with the band WALK AWAY at the “Jazz on the Odra” festival. He is a co-founder and member of numerous ensembles and jazz projects, including The Globetrotters, MaBaSo, and Colors. He also created the innovative solo project DIARY, exploring the possibilities of contemporary electronics. Maseli has collaborated with many outstanding musicians, including Krzysztof Ścierański, Dean Brown, and Zbigniew Preisner. In 2021, he released the solo album Drifter in the “Polish Jazz Masters” series.

As a producer, he is recognized for albums such as Tylko Chopin (Lora Szafran), Melodies (Anna Serafińska), Colors (Colors), and all albums by The Globetrotters. For over 25 years, he has consistently ranked first in the vibraphone category of Jazz Forum magazine’s “Jazz Top” poll. For 28 years, he has been a lecturer at the Jazz and Popular Music Department of the Katowice Academy of Music.
