Odwiedziny u Marceliny: Kraków – Paris

We invite you to “Odwiedziny u Marceliny” – an Open Day at Villa Decius inspired by the biography of its remarkable owner. The programme includes activities for audiences of all ages: guided walks, workshops, tours, an exhibition and a concert exploring the musical dialogue between Kraków and Paris.

Kraków – Paris

Title design

For 25 years, Villa Decius was the home of Marcelina Czartoryska – a pianist, student and friend of Fryderyk Chopin, and one of the most important figures of Kraków’s 19th-century artistic life.

Marcelina Czartoryska, who developed her piano skills under the guidance of Fryderyk Chopin in Paris, remains a symbol of the artistic connections between two European cities. This year’s edition of the project draws inspiration from her story, inviting visitors to discover the heritage of Villa Decius through music, art and direct experience of the historic space.

As part of the project, composers from Poland and France have been invited to Villa Decius to work on reinterpretations of the musical heritage of both countries. The residency will culminate in the “Kraków–Paris” piano recital – a musical dialogue inspired by the works of Fryderyk Chopin.

“Odwiedziny u Marceliny” is open to everyone – both those visiting Villa Decius for the first time and those already familiar with its unique atmosphere. Join us for walks, workshops, guided tours and artistic events, and discover the history of this Renaissance residence through the story of its remarkable owner.

The August Open Day is the first part of this year’s “Odwiedziny u Marceliny” programme. Further events will take place in September.
