Music at Villa Decius
We invite you for a concert of piano music by French composers.

On Sunday 9 March at 12.00, we invite you to Villa Decius for a concert of piano music by French composers.
During the concert, the audience will hear, among others, Claude Debussy and his Suite bergamasque, revealing the direction of the composer's inspiration with the dances of the Italian region. We will also hear the piece Pour le Piano, which invariably fascinates listeners and performers with its harmonics and unique fusion of musical cultures, bearing witness to Debussy's search for innovative solutions in the world of music.
The concert will also provide an opportunity to explore the work of Pierre Boulez, a composer and internationally acclaimed conductor who was one of the most outstanding interpreters of 20th-century classical music. On his initiative, the French government established the world's largest institution dedicated to new music in 1977, called IRCAM. The composer was also honoured with the Polish Gold Medal for ‘Merit to Culture Gloria Artis’, which he received in 2012. During the concert, we will hear his piano miniatures Douze notations. The programme will close with Fantaisie burlesque, one of the early works by Olivier Messiaen, whose student at the Paris Conservatory was Pierre Boulez and attended his classes in musical analysis.
Two outstanding pianists Olga Michalowska and Szymon Paruzel will take the audience on a journey with the extraordinary piano music of French composers.
