Miłosz Festival at Villa Decius
We invite you to the festival events at Villa Decius.

On 29 June, we invite you to Villa Decius, where the opening of this year's edition of the Milosz Festival and a series of poetry events will take place.
The slogan for this year's edition of the festival is both the title of a poetry volume by Czesław Miłosz published 25 years ago and the opening poem of this publication. In TO, we find the old poet's poignant confession about his inability to grasp certain aspects of reality. TO is the source of poetry and at the same time marks the impassable limit of the expressible. TO means encountering a stone wall, and understanding that this wall will not give way to any of our pleas. The ineffable paradoxically attracts the attention of poets striving to express it in language. Sometimes THIS is hidden under ecstatic praises of existence, images of unattainable idylls. It can emerge in an uncontrollable, silent scream or weave itself between the meanings of words naming more bearable things. At the Miłosz Festival, we will listen to poetry that nevertheless strives to capture the intangible.
PROGRAMME OF FESTIVAL EVENTS AT THE VILLA DECIJUSZA:
13:00 | Stone wall
In the poem THIS, Czeslaw Milosz writes about experiencing something that he does not undertake to name. Experiencing THIS is inevitable and constant, we are completely helpless in the face of it. However, the very fact of the author's poetic gesture proves that we are not deprived of all possibilities of action.
Moderation: Joanna Zach
Participating in the conversation will be Piotr Florczyk, Radosław Wiśniewski, Bohdan Zadura
