What is the Participatory Budget?
The Participatory Budget is a portion of the city’s budget whose allocation is decided directly by the people who live in Kraków.
First, residents submit ideas for improvements across the city and its individual districts. These projects may focus on greenery, culture, sport, education, safety, recreation, neighbourhood integration and many other areas. The proposals are then reviewed, and those approved are put to a public vote.
Projects that receive enough votes are funded and implemented by the City of Kraków. Put simply: residents decide how part of the city’s public funds should be spent.

Who can vote?
Anyone who lives in Kraków and has a PESEL number can vote, regardless of their age or nationality.
You do not need to be officially registered as a resident of Kraków. What matters is that you actually live in the city. This also means that children and young people can take part in the vote.

How do you cast a valid vote?
You need to select:
at least one city-wide project,
at least one district project.
In total, you can vote for up to six different projects: three city-wide projects and three district projects.

What should you bring?
To vote in person, you must visit the voting point yourself and present a photo ID confirming your identity. This can be, for example, an identity card, school ID or Kraków Card.
At the voting point, you will receive a paper ballot and have access to the list of projects. You will also need to provide your personal details, PESEL number and address of residence in Kraków.

If you prefer to vote without leaving home, you can do so through the Participatory Budget website. You will need to create an account in the system first. A mobile phone number is required for registration.
