"War and Us" is a book in which Ukrainian writer and TV presenter Vasily Zyma describes in memoir form the events of the first year of the war: how the invasion of 24 February was prepared, how Kiev was defended, the evacuation, the popular resistance and the key battles that saved Ukraine.
The book also tells the story of what it is like to live during wartime, being exposed to constant alarms and bombardments, experiencing losses among family and friends, and constantly experiencing lack of electricity, cold, fear, but also hope.
The author carefully follows all the important events that preceded the war, trying to answer the question: why did Putin decide to attack? What is his objective? And what is it like to suddenly find yourself in a major war in the heart of Europe, where human life becomes virtually worthless? How to survive this and not break down? How do you save your family and your faith?
