“Visit Marcelina” is already behind us! 21.08.2024
On Sunday, July 21st, the Villa Decius Open Day took place as part of the "Visit Marcelina" event.
This special day was dedicated to Princess Marcelina Czartoryska, a notable philanthropist, creator of the Kraków Patriotic Salon, talented pianist, student and friend of Fryderyk Chopin, and owner of Villa Decius in Kraków from 1869 to 1894.
The youngest guests had the opportunity to participate in the premiere of the detective walk, "Visit Marcelina," which was led by the well-known detective Ms. Fishka (Łucja Malec-Kornajew). During this engaging walk, they worked together to solve the mystery of the lost Chopin souvenir, adding an element of mystery and excitement to the event.
Art enthusiasts of all ages were invited to participate in workshops focused on creating artistic mosaics inspired by the decor of Villa Decius. These workshops were enriched by an introduction to art history, led by painter Beata Zuba.
Guests of Princess Marcelina also enjoyed guided tours of the historic spaces of Villa Decius, merging with its rich heritage. Moreover, the Open Day program offered a performance by the Cracovia Danza Court Ballet titled "Dance with Marcelina," which was further enhanced by a contredanse workshop that invited audience participation, creating an engaging experience for all.
The final highlight of the "Visit Marcelina" program was a concert by a young Ukrainian pianist, Ilaria Shevchuk-Shnaider, who delighted guests with her performance of Fryderyk Chopin’s works, including Mazurkas, Nocturnes, and "Fantasie-Impromptu."
The event was enhanced by a special surprise for visitors: they were greeted personally by Princess Marcelina herself, who was strolling through the historic interiors of her residence. In this role, Kamila Klimczak, an actress from the Bagatela Theatre, brought the Princess to life.
