Triangle for Ukrainian Artists 13.12.2023
We are launching a new Polish-Ukrainian-Swedish project.
Triangle for Ukrainian Artists (TUA) is the name of an EU project within the Creative Europe programme, initiated by Kulturhuset Stadsteatern and Rikstolvan Konst. It is a co-operation between Ukraine, Poland and Sweden with the aim of supporting the continued work of Ukrainian playwrights during the current war.
Based on cooperation between Ukraine, Poland and Sweden, the project aims to support the work of Ukrainian playwrights during the ongoing war by organising literary residencies and networking meetings, as well as providing content support and translations.
The project will produce 10 plays written by Ukrainian artists during the literary residencies organised by Rikstolvan.The resulting works will be translated into Swedish and made available on the websites of Rikstolvan and the Dramaturgs' Theatre. The plays will also be staged at the Kiev Theatre Festival and the 2025 Performing Arts Biennale in Sweden.
The project also includes a series of readings, networking meetings and festival meetings, during which Ukrainian playwrights will be able to present their work to and engage with the Swedish theatre community.
The project will also include a series of study visits to major theatre institutions in Krakow.
Another important part of the project will be the creation of a document (policy paper), which, based on research into the needs of the Ukrainian artistic community, will indicate methods for supporting freedom of expression and democracy that could also be applied in other countries affected by the crisis of war. The paper will be presented at the project's concluding conference to be held at Villa Decius in Krakow in autumn 2025.
