Second round of call for scriptwriting scholarships is open 07.08.2024

We invite screenwriters, playwrights from Germany to apply.
The Villa Decius Cultural Institute and the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation, in cooperation with the Literarisches Colloquium Berlin, invite German scriptwriters and screenwriters, playwrights and playwrights to apply for one-month scholarships at Villa Decius in Krakow on one of two dates: October or November 2024. The deadline for applications is August 31, 2024 at 12:00 pm.

The scholarship is open to authors and writers of theater and radio plays, as well as film and television scripts from Germany, who can boast at least one published artistic production (theater play, radio play, film, series) based on their own text.

The scholarship includes a month's stay in the historic annex of the Renaissance palace Villa Decius in Krakow (single room with bathroom), a stipend of PLN 3,250 gross and assistance in organizing the stay and establishing industry contacts. We also hope that the stay at Villa Decius, which currently hosts artists as part of six scholarship programs, will enable the establishment of valuable international contacts, and that the company of artists from all over the world will serve as inspiration and create opportunities for creative exchange and cooperation.

If you are interested in a residency at Villa Decius, please fill out the online application form: https://forms.gle/fgXN5M8hsvSiUeWW7 and send as an attachment an excerpt from your completed screenplay or play in German or English.

First consideration will be given to applications from those who plan to work on a text as part of the residency, the theme of which will be broadly understood Polish-German relations.

A cover letter or recommendation can also be attached to the form.

Recruitment lasts until August 31 at 12:00 p.m. Results of the call will be announced by September 10.

The project is financed by funds from the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation.
