Minimum Dacay 30.03.2025
Interactive performance by Kenyan artist Ondiso Madete at Villa Decius.

On Sunday 30 March at 5.30 pm, we invite you to Villa Decius for an interactive performance MINIMUM DECAY by Kenyan artist Ondiso Madete.
Performace is the result of the artist's three-month work at Villa Decius as part of the ARTS IN EXILE residency programme.
The 45-minute performance will take place in three spaces of Villa Decius. Each space will be linked to a specific emotion that describes and explores the experience of migration and relationship building.
Forced displacement as an existential source of disintegration is the central theme of my project, which explores the bonds formed by displaced people. I am such a person myself, and Villa Decius, as a space to explore this experience, is for me a comfortable, safe place, free from excessive distractions and at the same time full of new friendships. - Ondiso Madete says. - I want the audience to experience the world through my connection to Krakow, its people and its space. I use songs, guitar loops, singing, dance, poetry, visuals and sculptures to create a multisensory and interactive performance from which I would like participants to leave with new tools to connect with the world, nature, other people and themselves.
ONDISO MADETE is a multidisciplinary artist from Kenya. She currently lives permanently in Finland. At the centre of her artistic explorations is storytelling. She uses music, spoken and written word, as well as dance, film and theatre as means of expression. She is interested in themes of love, loss, connection and identity.
How do I connect with people whose life experiences are so different from mine? I talk to them, see them, dance, sing and break bread with them.By sharing my stories and inviting them into my world, most of the people I meet do the same.We create a connection through senses and stories and become closer to each other. I feel less alone and gain the gift of a new perspective. I see with different eyes, touch with different hands, hear, feel, discover, perceive a world that is ultimately beautifully and tragically connected. - Ondiso says.
Bronislaw Chromy's sculptures will form part of the scenography of the performance ‘Minimum decay’. We would like to thank Chromy Gallery and Mrs Grażyna Chromy-Rościszewska for making the works available and for their kind assistance.
