Homines Urbani - literary residency programme at Villa Decius

Homines Urbani is an international programme of literary residencies and events addressed to writers from Poland, Ukraine and Germany. The programme is a continuation of the unique series of scholarship residencies at Villa Decius, which - being the only initiative of its kind in our country - operated in the years 2004-2012, significantly contributing to the internationalisation of Polish literary life, strengthening the integration of Polish-German-Ukrainian creative circles and, above all, significantly supporting writers/writers who, thanks to this scholarship, wrote (or translated) many important and widely recognised books (the programme benefited approximately 100 people, including, among others: Dorota Masłowska, Michał Witkowski, Łukasz Orbitowski, Juli Zeh, Tania Malarczuk or Serhiy Żadan).

In 2025, Villa Decius will host, within the framework of ‘Homines Urbani’, six authors: 4 from Poland, 1 from Germany and 1 from Ukraine, who will receive, among other things, a one-month residency and financial support. The aim of the programme is to enable the participants to realise the literary project submitted in the competition, as well as to promote their work, inter alia, through the organisation of meetings with authors or the publication of the work created during the residency in the ‘Radar’ magazine.
