Holiday Saturday at Strzelnica na Woli – a community that truly works 18.12.2025

Holiday Saturday at Strzelnica na Woli was a day that clearly demonstrated the role a cultural institution can and should play at the local level. For several hours, Strzelnica became a space for meeting, conversation, shared creation and mindful togetherness. Over the course of the day, more than 100 people took part in the events – neighbours, families, children, seniors and visitors who simply wanted to spend time in an open and welcoming atmosphere.
The day began with open holiday workshops, where participants created their own decorations – both traditional and contemporary. It was a time of calm creative work, conversation and exchange of ideas, but also a moment when relationships naturally formed between people who had not met before.

This was followed by community Christmas tree decorating, a symbolic and meaningful activity. Each ornament carried a personal story, intention or good wish. In this way, the tree in front of Strzelnica became not only a festive decoration, but also a visible sign of local cooperation, care and community spirit.

The day concluded with a holiday concert by Sinfonietta Cracovia, which brought together an audience eager for both musical beauty and shared carol singing. The intimate atmosphere of Strzelnica encouraged attentive listening as well as the joy of experiencing music together – music became a space for connection rather than mere presentation.

What resonated most throughout the day was locality: kind words, smiles, small gestures, conversations around the table, spontaneous acts of support and the growing sense that this is truly “our” place. It became clear that a strong, open community is forming around Strzelnica na Woli, rooted in relationships, trust and shared action.

Holiday Saturday also reaffirmed the importance of cultural institutions working locally – close to residents, responsive to their needs and creating spaces where culture serves as a tool for building social bonds, rather than an end in itself.

The event was made possible thanks to the cooperation of the Willa Decjusza Institute of Culture and Sinfonietta Cracovia, and was funded by the District VII Council, to whom we extend our sincere thanks.

Looking back at the energy of this day, we feel that this is only the beginning – and that together, we are building something truly special.
