Espresso at Villa Decius 22.11.2023
We invite you to a concert by Sinfonietta Cracovia.
On 26 November at 12.00, we would like to invite you to the 'Espresso at Villa Decius' concert performed by Sinfonietta Cracovia musicians.
November's Espresso Concert falls in the month of Krzysztof Penderecki's 90th birthday, whose work is a source of endless inspiration for many musicians. This time, one of the Maestro's quartets will become the canvas for a musical programme presented by Sinfonietta Cracovia at Villa Decius.
Penderecki was a searching artist, often using the metaphor of the labyrinth and the ark in his statements. Independently, the same themes - and even inspiration from the natural world and gardens - appear in the work of the excellent graphic artist Krzysztof Skórczewski.
During the Espresso Penderecki / Skórczewski meeting, guests at the meeting over a cup of coffee will be able to listen to, among others, Penderecki's String Quartet No. 3 'Notes from an Unwritten Diary' performed by the musicians of Sinfonietta Cracovia, and the counterpoint to the musical part will be a meeting with Krzysztof Skórczewski, who will share with the audience the inspirations linking his visual art with the Maestro's music. Krzysztof Skórczewski is, among others, also the author of two portraits of Krzysztof Penderecki ('Maestro' and 'Jubilee'). Krzysztof Skórczewski's works were also presented at Villa Decius during an exhibition dedicated to his work. Currently, four of his copperplate engravings are on display in the Villa's Main Hall.

Justyna Duda (violin)
Danuta Augustyn (violin)
Ewa Szczepańska-Chwast (viola)
Marcin Mączyński (cello)
Concert programme:
Krzysztof Penderecki String Quartet No. 3 "Pages from an unwritten diary"
