Second Composition Competition for composers from all over the worl.
EDITION 2021
2Act Foundation and the Villa Decius Institute for Culture hereby announces its second Composition Competition for composers from all over the world to create a new work for instrumental trio. We would like to ask composers to present us with their own, individual interpretation of this year ’s subject, ‘Art and violence ’.
The challenge of the second edition of the is to compose an original work for an instrumental trio consisted of: the piano, the percussion and one woodwind instrument of choice according to the regulations. We are looking for original works that not only focus on musical matter but also consider aspects related to the theme of the competition ‘Art and violence’.
FOR WHOM ?
The competition is open to all composers regardless of nationality and age. The organizers encourage composers from all over the world to submit an original interpretation of the theme.
AWARD
The main prize in the competition is PLN 3,000, and the performance of the winning piece by the Krakow-based Spółdzielnia Muzyczna Contemporary Ensemble the winner of the Ernst von Siemens 2021/22 award, specializing in the interpretation of contemporary music.
JURY
The competition jury will be composed of outstanding composers and professors:

prof. dr hab. Hanna Kulenty (Poland / Netherlands)
dr Jarosław Płonka - secretary of the competition
DATES
Deadline for submitting works: 28.O2.2022.
The results of the competition will be published on: March 20, 2022.
PERFORMANCE
The ceremonial premiere of the winning composition will take place at the turn of April and May 2022, during the final concert organized in the interiors of the Wilia Decjusza Cultural Institute in Krakow - a partner institution of the 2Act Foundation. The concert program will also include works by composers chosen by the jury and compositions from the world repertoire of 20th and 21st century music. If it is possible - the concert will be held with the participation of the audience, while maintaining the safety rules related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
