24 February – Solidarity with Ukraine 24.02.2026

On 24 February, the anniversary of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine, we express our solidarity and our respect for all those who defend life and human rights, support local communities, document crimes, provide assistance, and care for cultural institutions.
“Justice must not be abstract — it must be felt. It must reach the homes of people who have lost someone they loved, who have been tortured, displaced, or silenced. Often they are ordinary people — farmers, teachers, nurses, parents — whose suffering is spoken of for a day or a week, and then forgotten. Our task is to make sure they are not forgotten.” — Oksana Pokalchuk, Co-Executive Director of Truth Hounds
Culture is not an add-on to everyday life; it is one of the pillars of society. That is why, in our work at Villa Decius, our support for Ukraine and for people affected by the war also reaches groups that are less visible, yet just as vital in the struggle for culture — artists, cultural managers, creators, and those responsible for safeguarding heritage.

We provide not only immediate assistance, but also the conditions needed to continue creative work, supporting the mobility and safety of Ukrainian artists; we also run residencies and research-and-education projects that create space for collaboration and document the experience of wartime.

We thank our Ukrainian colleagues for their perseverance in work that, although rarely visible in the headlines, is essential for the future — for recovery, justice, and a lasting peace.

Key projects delivered through Polish–Ukrainian cooperation at Villa Decius:

  • Triangle for Ukrainian Artists (TUA)
  • Arts in Exile / Kultura na Uchodźstwie
  • ICORN (the International Cities of Refuge Network)
  • “Crossroads of Cultures”
  • Radar — a trilingual magazine
