The Villa Decius Institute for Culture invites you to visit the historic interiors of Villa Decius during the winter holidays, and children to take a detective walk through its nooks and crannies.
Erected in 1535 in Wola Justowska at the outskirts of Krakow, Villa Decius is one of the finest and most complete examples of a suburban Renaissance residence. Between the 16th and 19th century, it was a place of residence of many distinguished families, starting with the Decius family, who were the Villa's first owners, and then, among others: the Lubomirski and Sanguszko families, the counts Kuczkowski, and the princes Czartoryski. The exhibition of paintings from the Regional Museum in Nowy Sącz and furniture from the National Museum in Krakow are a mere substitute to the rich furnishing that was undoubtedly ordered to the Villa by its past owners.
During the winter holidays (from 19.01 to 2.02) we invite you to take an individual tour (with an audio guide in Polish or English) of the historic interiors of Villa Decius:
- all MONDAYS, TUESDAYS, WEDNESDAYS, FRIDAYS from 10.00 to 18.00 hours
- 19 January on SUNDAYS: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
In addition, every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 11.00 a.m. there will be a guided tour (IN POLISH LANGUAGE) of Villa Decius included in the entrance price.
In addition, we invite children and adults to a tour of Villa Decius in Spanish on Monday 20.01.2025 at 3 pm and in English on Thursday 30.01.2025 at 2 pm.
Until the end of January, during the visiting hours at the Villa, you can see the Cracovian christmas crib, which is presented in the Ballroom on the first floor of the building.

Detective walks for children
During the holidays, we invite children to two detective walks inspired by the history of Villa Decius.
Jost's secret
Together with Ms Fishka - a guide to Krakow, art historian and author of fascinating detective walks for children - we invite young lovers of adventure and history to take part in a game during which we will visit the beautiful suburban Villa of a 16th-century Krakow financier, explore its nooks and crannies, and (perhaps!) decipher a message that apparently never made it into the hands of the heirs of his fortune.....
Children aged 6-9 are invited to join the JOSTA MYSTERY walk on Sunday 19 January at 12 noon.

Visiting Marcelina
On Friday, 24 January at 12 noon, we would like to invite children aged 6-9 to a detective walk called ODWIEDZINY U MARCELINY [Visiting Marcelina], inspired by the figure of Princess Marcelina Czartoryska, the former owner of Villa Decius.
