Summer Concerts
Piano chamber music at Villa Decius
"Piano Cooperative's Light Summer Concerts at Villa Decius" is a project of the Polish Chamber Musicians' Association and the Villa Decius Institute for Culture, which consists of a cycle of musical meetings in Krakow involving classical recitals as well as less formal concerts.
During the cycle, Villa Decius will host pianists who have been working together for many years. The idea for "Piano Cooperative" was born in 2020 during the final stage of the "Faces of pianism" project organised by the Polish Chamber Musicians' Association, the participants of which were graduates of Professor Stefan Wojtas' class and the invited guests. Since then, the group of pianists held several online and on-site concerts, which received a very enthusiastic reception. The most popular events were diversified musical programmes combining elements of classical music, entertainment and jazz, as well as more and less famous compositions and new pieces by Ireneusz Boczek and Marta Mołodyńska-Wheeler.
The summer project of the "Piano Cooperative" is, in fact, a cycle of meetings gathering people connected by music, which creates an unique atmosphere. The pieces will be performed by Krakow-based artists, and during one of the concerts we will host a pianist living in Great Britain. The cosy rooms of Villa Decius in Krakow provide excellent conditions for enjoying summer concerts, shortening the distance between the artists and their audience; all this inside the beautiful historic building surrounded by the greenery of the park. The project is dedicated to whole families, both the inhabitants of Krakow and those visiting the city. Active participation is encouraged, and the musical concept of the project combines challenging and easy programmes, which makes music and art more accessible to the audience.
