On 13 February at 6 p.m., we invite you to a meeting with Marta Dzido, writer and director, author of the recently published collection of short stories collection Babie lato [Indian summer] (Relacje Publishing House, 2024). The meeting will be hosted by Georgina Gryboś.
Babie lato [Indian summer] is the latest collection of short stories by Marta Dzido, who explored the theme of female sensuality in the book Sezon na truskawki [Strawberry Season]. This book goes further, showing not only the affirmation of corporeality, but also the stories of life's scars that form us. These are stories about women who have one thing in common - they do not hesitate to fight for themselves.
Marta Dzido's heroines strive for self-determination at different stages of their lives, and their voices intertwine in a fascinating story about the right to one's own body, freedom, emancipation, courage and memory.
‘The scream comes from deep within, a scream like a roar, because I am not going alone, because there are a hundred of us, a hundred thousand, even more. There is a pile of us.’
Marta Dzido - writer, director. She made her debut at the age of 16, publishing prose works in the magazines "Krzywe Koło Literatury" and "Koło Podkowa". Author of the novels ‘Ślad po mamie’, ‘Małż’, ‘Matrioszka’, ‘Frajda’, a reporter's book ‘Kobiety Solidarności’, collections of short stories: ‘Sezon na truskawki’, “Babie lato” and texts printed in the anthologies. Her prose has been translated into Vietnamese, Czech, Ukrainian, Serbian, Macedonian, German, Croatian, Bulgarian, among others.
Georgina Gryboś - programme editor at Radio Kraków Kultura. She writes, reads and talks about books. She takes the greatest pleasure in talking to authors and creators, as she believes that passion and beauty can be contagious. She runs a blog and podcast dedicated to literature: Literacka Kavka.
