HAND DRUMS FESTIVAL – Kraków 2025

We invite you to an extraordinary encounter with the music of the world!
The festival is a celebration of diversity and cultural richness. You will experience exotic instruments, workshops, presentations, collective music-making, and unique concerts. On stage, artists representing different genres and musical traditions will come together to create an improvised concert inspired by the sounds of the world.

Detailed Festival Program:
10:00 – 11:00
Handpan Presentation – an opportunity to discover the history of the instrument, its sound, playing techniques, and to ask questions directly to its maker.
Led by: Karol Domański – Polish creator of Essence Handpans.


11:00 – 12:00
“Music of the World” Workshop for Children and Parents – participants will discover instruments from different parts of the globe (including handpan, tongue drum, frame drums, darbuka). This will also be a unique opportunity for collective music-making and for creating a one-day orchestra that will perform an improvised concert together.
Led by: Maciej Trifonidis – multi-instrumentalist, composer.


12:15 – 13:00
Exhibition and Presentation of Traditional Japanese Shakuhachi Flutes – a perfect chance to hear stories about Japan’s musical traditions.
Presented by: Paweł Szulik – flutist, shakuhachi specialist.


13:15 – 14:30
“Music of the World” Concert – musicians from different musical backgrounds will join forces on stage to create an improvised concert inspired by world music.

Performers:
  1. Paweł Szulik – shakuhachi flute
  2. Maciej Trifonidis – handpan, koto, frame drums
  3. Maciej Hałoń – percussion instruments, hang
