Duchess Marcelina invites you to Visit!
On 21 September we invite you to Villa Decius for the next edition of the event “Visiting Marcelina”. On this day we will travel back to 19th-century Kraków, when Duchess Marcelina Czartoryska – owner of the Villa between 1869 and 1894 – hosted her famous cultural salon.
In the unique interiors of the Duchess’s former residence, we will hold an author’s meeting with Alicja Zioło – guide, activist, and herstory researcher – devoted to her latest book “Krakowianki. Continuation”. The publication includes, among others, a chapter dedicated to Marcelina Czartoryska herself – philanthropist and talented pianist. The conversation will be an opportunity to talk about women, heritage, and the herstorical memory of the city.

For the youngest guests, we have prepared a detective walk with Pani Fishka (Łucja Malec-Kornajew). The well-known detective will lead the search for a lost keepsake of Fryderyk Chopin – the friend and mentor of Duchess Marcelina.

Finally, we invite you to the concert “With Music at Duchess Marcelina’s”, performed by the students and teachers of the Mozart Music School. In the Villa Decius Ballroom, you will hear sounds that reflect the Duchess’s musical passions – she was one of the greatest interpreters of Fryderyk Chopin’s works.

The event is organized within the project “Stories. Wola Justowska – Yesterday and Today”, co-funded by the Museum of Polish History as part of the “Patriotism of Tomorrow” programme.
